Ask a Question
Send us your roof or siding question
Have a question about roofing, siding, or any home improvement project you are planning, preparing for, or in the middle of working through right now? We have been documenting our own projects and the contractors we hire since 2018, and we spend our time answering questions from homeowners who are facing the same major decisions we ourselves have faced again and again over the years. We have accumulated real, practical answers to many of the questions that genuinely keep homeowners awake at night, and we know what those questions are because we have asked every one of them ourselves. Our answers cover what is actually normal in a roofing or siding job versus what should trigger a red flag, which materials hold up best in different weather conditions and regional climates, how long a typical project timeline should realistically be, what to expect during the work, and how to evaluate whether a finished job meets the quality standards it should. If you run into something we have not encountered directly in our own projects, we will research it thoroughly using our collection of project notes, the manufacturer guides and specification documents we keep on file, and conversations with the contractors we have worked alongside and learned from over these many years. This form is the easiest way to reach us, and we read every question that arrives, treating your time and your specific concern seriously no matter how small or specific it might seem. We respond by email within 48 hours whenever possible, and if a question is going to take longer we will send you a note letting you know that. Sometimes we publish responses as new entries on this site if we think the answer helps other homeowners facing the same situation—we always ask your permission first and never use your name unless you ask us to.
What happens after you hit send
When your question arrives in our inbox, we read it carefully and completely, thinking about what we have actually seen and lived through that directly relates to your specific situation and your particular circumstance. If your question touches something we have worked through ourselves or watched closely during one of our own projects, we write back with what we learned from that hands-on experience, including mistakes we made and what we would do differently the next time we face a similar situation. If your question extends outside our direct experience or involves something we haven't personally encountered before, we will dig deeply into our growing library of project notes, the manufacturer guides and technical specification sheets we keep on file, and our ongoing conversations with the contractors we have worked alongside and learned from over these many years. We do this because we believe you deserve an answer grounded in someone's real experience rather than speculation or guessing, and that commitment to practical knowledge is what we bring to every response. We typically respond to questions within 48 hours, though sometimes when we are in the middle of a big project of our own the timeline stretches a few days longer, and when that happens we will send you a note letting you know what's going on. Every response we send reflects what we know from seeing actual work being done and from living with the results over time, and we stand firmly behind what we tell you because it comes from experience earned the hard way, not from theory.
